10 “Gilligan’s Island” Fun Facts

Gilligan’s Island (1964–1967) is one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time. Yet, there are a lot of things average Gilligan fans may not know about the show. In this blog post, I want to talk about some of the Gilligan’s Island fun facts I’ve learned over the years you might enjoy. Just sit right back and you’ll hear…or at least read…a tale of 10 fun facts I know about Gilligan’s Island.

1. The Producer Was Known for Another Famous Show, Too

Sherwood Schwartz was a producer and writer on both Gilligan’s Island and The Brady Bunch. He had a hand in every Brady production from The Bradys to The Brady Brides. In fact, his last credit as a producer and writer was for The Brady Bunch in the White House in 2002. He later passed away in 2011.

2. There Were Some Set Tensions and Secrets

For the most part, the cast of Gilligan’s Island got along great with each other. The problems occurred for other reasons. For example, several actors didn’t like that Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells’ characters of the Professor and Mary Ann weren’t mentioned in the theme song originally. They all raised enough fuss that the theme song was later changed, and peace was restored between them and Sherwood Schwartz.

Another issue was Tina Louise. She liked most of her co-stars and even acted in a movie with Bob…
