I think this pretty much nails how all tech 2-sided marketplace dynamics work.

Yeah much of this is applicable to networks in general. One point I didn’t touch on that makes more sense for marketplaces is faking either supply side or demand side until you are able to acquire the other side. That’s difficult to do in payments networks, but companies like Uber have enough cards on file that pitching merchants on UberPay could make sense now.
