I often disagree with Ms. Anne. In the interest of fairness, I want to say I this time I agree with her wholeheartedly. But it is not enough to say we need an educated populace that is thinking critically. We need policy issues to achieve those laudable goals:

  • Tax funded public higher education. Higher education and trade schools obviously will help bring about a more educated electorate.
  • Tax funded universal pre-K. Studies have shown that pre-K helps kids later in life immensely with both school and life goals.
  • $15/minimum wage. You don’t have time or energy to read up on politics if you’ve got to work 2 or 3 jobs just to pay the bills.
  • Ending the drug war. Most felons and ex-felons can’t vote. The US favors marijuana legalization. Let’s do that and stop sending non-violent offenders to jail where they are only a drain on our taxes.
  • Single payer health care. Another issue that would reduce the out of pocket health care expenses of the average American (by a lot!), as well as reducing the time effort involved in searching for decent, affordable health care. People with more time and money and less stress have the means to be up to date on political issues.

The US can easily afford all this, it is just a matter of priorities. Fortunately, we have Bernie Sanders who is pushing for all these policy issues (and more). I look forward to Ms. Anne supporting Bernie in his endeavors!
