Shock Wave the Suspensory
My horse Q is recovering from a swollen suspensory, and during this process of recovering; we have decided to do shockwave therapy. It is a noninvasive way to stimulate healing in a tendon, ligament, or bony structure.
Shockwave increases pressure throughout the tissue, this increases blood flow and therefore aids in the healing process. When you complete shockwave therapy, you do around three treatments; around two weeks apart.
This treatment is not an immediate cure for lameness, but it speeds the healing process up, and will help cure lameness much quicker. Shockwave is not cheap, it will cost you a pretty penny, but so will a prolonged lameness and extra vet calls. So, my weekly tip is; that shockwave therapy is well worth the cost; for you and your horse.
