If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it

When you hire a personal trainer they will weigh you, measure you and even test your body fat level. Then they track it on a regular basis to see if you are improving or getting stuck. The tracking allows the trainer to adjust the diet, exercise and lifestyle habits towards progress.

Well the same is true about business. What is measured improves.

The more I coach small business owners the more I realize this missing link. Small business owners are failing to track important metrics making it impossible for them to know what is working and what isn’t.

How many people heard about you this week?
How many people reached out?
How many people purchased?
How many upgraded their purchase?
How many referred your business to a friend?
How many quit?

Business is like flying in the clouds. These are important metrics that become a dashboard to know what direction you are going in.

It can’t be left to chance.

Come on people.
