You’re true about this trick. But that’s also a root of the problem with Google+ called a ghost town. Due to the fact, that everyone is just self-promoting there own things there, it is kinda becoming a spam-place. And that’s why I deleted my Google+ profile. I don’t miss it somehow.

Maybe one thing I would add: If you’re not native English speaker and you get a lot of typo correction comments (public ones), it can also be very frustrating, because you feel ashamed due to your lack of English skills.
