Manufacturing Process: Complex; Pressing Glass

Pressing glass is a simple process that yields amazing results. In my glass casting processes you can only control one side of the form but with pressing it is possible to imprint a shape on both sides. Pressing Glass is a two part molding process. A male and female side fit together to form the shape and a layer of hot molten glass is squished in-between the two. Its like making a sandwich, except the bread is a two-part mold and the meat is glass.

Glass pressing has the ability to pick up little tiny details in a mold, which can be difficult with other forms of glass casting. This process is used to make Lemon juicers, outdoor lighting, laboratory glass, and ashtrays.
