A thank you note to Donald J. Trump

Dear Donald J. Trump,
Mr. President, I want to take this opportunity to publicly thank you for all that you’ve done since you were elected. Scratch that, since you announced you were running for President.
You’ve done an amazing job. Truly. Through your countless EO’s and your rallies, you have awoken the American spirit. A spirit that, except for a few, has been dormant till now. You have singlehandedly inspired a movement that I have never seen before.
Your administration has accomplished a true miracle: you solved political apathy.
You, sir, with your hostile rhetoric and unprecedented actions have collectively motivated millions to become politically involved. People who would brush off politics as insignificant, now see it as a matter of life or death; the pivotal moment of the survival of our individual rights and the legacy of our democracy.
Citizens have realized there’s no more time for silence. Thanks to you.
I know you like to call the reality of what’s happening in this country fake news. Believe it or not, you sparked a revolution, even if it’s not the one you were expecting.
The town halls, the protests, the donations, the marches, the rogue government employees, the journalists who refuse to back down, the increasing number of young people (specially women) running for office, that Mr. President is all real. We are not fake. We are not “paid” protestors. We are not snowflakes. We are not “cry baby” liberals.
We are Americans exercising our right to free speech, to disagree, to hold this government accountable. Some of us are democrats, yes. Some of us are independents. Some of us are libertarians. And some of us are republicans. All of us are patriots. Because, for as much as you like to vilify those who oppose you, dissent IS patriotism.
Donald, I know that when you look at all this civic engagement, you see a threat. It hurts your ego. I get it. I, however, see beauty. I see toughness. I see dirt and sweat and struggle. I see the burden of our ancestors’ weight on our shoulders. I see a sense of responsibility on our faces with our heads held high. I see vulnerability shrouded in strength. But most of all, I see tenacity to never give up. I see hustle.
That will be your true legacy, Donald. You brought a nation together, not in supporting you but in support of a just America that celebrates diversity, difference of opinions with love and only love.
So thank you again, Mr. President, for showing the American people that we are THE boss. Just as you were “hired”, you can also be fired.
Keep up the good work, Donnie, you are only making us stronger.
Many thanks,
J
