Exactly. Don’t like doing hard time? Don’t like prison? Don’t commit felonies! The whole “mass incarceration” thing is purest BS. The people inside aren’t there for just using drugs. They’re there for dealing and for violent crime and committing multiple felonies. They earned their sentences.

Perhaps, some day, a prison record will return to being a badge of shame instead of a rite of passage. Then, we might see fewer families being torn apart.

But for now, people need to take responsibility for their own lives.
