You really don’t know the history and philosophy of the US government, do you? The Supreme Court specifically, and the courts in general, were created as an independent, nonpolitical, coequal branch of government specifically intended to serve as a brake on the popularly elected branches.

The Constitution set up a limited government of enumerated powers, and clearly delineated what that government can and cannot do. There are things the US government cannot do no matter how much the population might wish it, because they violate the Constitution. Further, whatever the government does must be done strictly in accordance with the law.

The US government is not a democracy. It’s a democratic republic. The difference is critical, and poorly understood on the leftward end of the political spectrum.

Do you recognize any limits at all on the legitimate power of the government? If not, then you don’t understand the American system.
