It is seen as unnatural for a mother to kill her own children, but to me it is even more unnatural for a mother to be so obsessed with childbirth itself instead of the multitude of other experiences that for me are more striking and memorable — more defining of motherhood — than birth

I hope that this was a throwaway line, and doesn’t actually intend what it literally means. Did you really mean to say that it is more unnatural to be obsessed with an experience of childbirth than it is to kill one’s own children? What concept of “nature” would lead to such a grisly conclusion?
