A very good explanation of what’s happened to the newspaper industry

This is for those who aren’t on Twitter or missed this excellent thread by journalism professor Jeremy Littau this week.

This is too important for non-Twitter users not to see.

Lehigh University journalism professor Jeremy Littau went viral on Twitter this week with a very good thread on what’s happened to the newspaper industry, in particular, over the last 40 years or so.

This, of course, is in reaction to the announcement(s) made by the likes of Buzzfeed, Gannett, Verizon (owner of Yahoo News and HuffPost) that about 1,000 journalists have lost or will be losing their jobs.

Read on, if you missed this, and then subscribe to your local news source. Your subscription gives them a chance at making a come back, even if you aren’t happy with their current storytelling.

As Littau makes clear, local newspapers are the most in danger, even though they’re the bedrock of our media landscape.

Thanks Jeremy!
