The most important thing I tell people who have an interest in changing the world better is spread this: spread this message:
Where you spend matters. When you pay money, or pay attention, you support the ideas and the ideals that built the company, the product, and the world that company wants to win. You promote a world where that thing you buy is more likely to thrive in the future. Your money shapes the social ecology that defines what kinds of companies live, and which ones cannot.
For example: If you buy Starbucks, you make more Starbucks shops happen. It’s an easy connection for a person to see when you show them, but most people don’t think about it.
I tell each person ready to hear it. Be the change.
