Links 003: Absolutely yes, and definitely no

Trying out a new format this time. If anyone’s reading, leave a note and let me know what you think.

  1. Can we say what the best diet for humans is?

“On the basis of such self-flagellation in the service of truth, [David Katz] can say with considerable, if not perfect, confidence that the answer is: absolutely yes, and definitely no.”

2. A smart watch controlling dumb screens

Neptune is trying to change the way we think about the technology we carry by making the “smart” device the thing on your wrist, rather than the screen in your pocket. Imagine a world where your monitor at work, the TV in your hotel room, the chalkboard at school are all “dumb” screens that accept input from the powerful computer that’s always strapped to your wrist.

3. The reel story

Camp 4 collective put together a crazy, genre-busting reel. This does nothing to make me less devastatingly jealous of them.

4. Ubuntu phone that doesn’t rely on apps

Web standards are getting to the point of almost parity with native apps. Going back to the “dumb screens” thing from #2, who says apps even need to live on your “phone?” If they’re served centrally and responsively designed, an app can exist in its own domain, so to speak, and any screen or input device can access it.
