The Most Important Thing That You Will Need When You Switch Jobs
Sometimes it seems like it takes a long time to make a decision. While that may be true, it is the commitment to the decision that takes place in a split second and that changes everything.
Deciding to go on a diet, clean up your garage, join the gym, take up painting, look for a new job…..and all those other “decisions” you have made that never quite saw the light of day or died over time did so because you were not committed.
Commitment to an outcome is the only thing that matters when you make a decision.
Once you commit to a decision, the path becomes clear and solutions present themselves. Commitment creates clarity.
“I have always looked for the “Cortes Moment” in individuals when I work with them. The moment that I knew they were “burning the ships” and would not look back. No matter what.”
Lack of commitment comes in all kinds of words. Delays, excuses, procrastination, blame, will-get-to’s, distractions…..and the list goes on.
When a person is considering a new job, I want to know their level of commitment. There are a lot of people counting on that person’s level of commitment. Co-workers, family members, new employer, old employer and the most important of all….YOU.
I have always looked for the “Cortes Moment” in individuals when I work with them. Whether it was my firm facilitating a move for them to a new role or it was one of my teammates at The Mullings Group launching a new career with us or driving a new initiative in our business. The moment that I knew they were “burning the ships” and would not look back. No matter what.
The greatest growth in your life occurs when you are willing to put to sleep who you were yesterday in order for the person within you to become awakened tomorrow.
