I’m doing it again. Another really, really long triathlon.
I slowly (and barely) complete an IRONMAN 70.3 event in New Hampshire’s sweltering August heat in 2016. Since I survived, it seemed reasonable to try another 70.3 event last year in a comfortable May climate that perennially visits Northern California.
On May 12, 2018 I will complete a full IRONMAN event: a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike, and capped off by a 26.2 run.
Although I’m absolutely terrified of the pain to which I’ll be subjecting my body, I’ve enjoyed the discipline training requires. Strangely, my favorite days are Tuesdays and Thursdays when I wake for a 5:45/6:00 am run and attend a Soulcycle class (use my referral link) in the evenings after work.
Although I’m completing this event for myself, it also offers an opportunity to raise money for the Alternatives in Action (AIA) school and youth development/empowerment organization. I recently joined AIA’s Board of Directors because the school community and students remind me of the Next Step Public Charter School, where I began my career in education. Please consider helping me to support the school by making a tax-deductible donation. Feel free to reach out for other ways in which you might be able to help students and staff.
