I’m doing it again. Another really, really long triathlon.

I slowly (and barely) complete an IRONMAN 70.3 event in New Hampshire’s sweltering August heat in 2016. Since I survived, it seemed reasonable to try another 70.3 event last year in a comfortable May climate that perennially visits Northern California.

IRONMAN Santa Rosa 70.3, May 2017.

On May 12, 2018 I will complete a full IRONMAN event: a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike, and capped off by a 26.2 run.

Although I’m absolutely terrified of the pain to which I’ll be subjecting my body, I’ve enjoyed the discipline training requires. Strangely, my favorite days are Tuesdays and Thursdays when I wake for a 5:45/6:00 am run and attend a () in the evenings after work.

Although I’m completing this event for myself, it also offers an opportunity to raise money for the (AIA) school and youth development/empowerment organization. I recently joined AIA’s Board of Directors because the school community and students remind me of the , where I began my career in education. Please consider helping me to support the school by . Feel free to reach out for other ways in which you might be able to help students and staff.
