Last but not least

Better is the end of something, than it’s beginning. Quite ironical, I somehow don’t love endings.

Everything that has a beginning must have an ending. But does true love have an end? I don’t know. This is the last day of the Andela SLC week. It’s been good, at least I can say better than all the other days. Everything was getting wrapped up. Mostly, everyone was doing deployment and continious integration. It’s weird that at this point I still did not have what I’d call a functional application. Yet, I was there too: deploying adding CI tools and CI badges to my README. 😂

What was I doing? I was trying to manage my time, trying to make sure my yesterday does not consume my entire today. Running two terminals simultaneously like most of the time and more than 10 browser tabs. (Google chrome can really make your pc hang, or was it that I was in so much haste?) Of course, we all know the intensive amount of pressure that is always at the homestretch of everything in life. This case was not an exception, I wished I had more time. In fact, I even spent some of my time trying to figure out what I would accomplish if I just had one more day onto my time line.

Never the less, I still had to have all my outputs for the day before close of day. I was supposed to do this quite early, considering that this is the last day and that deliberations have to be made. I was very warm and focused towards meeting the objectives of the day but *bugs, bugs, bugs* …did I mention that I had more than 10 browser tabs open? Well, you now know why.

Deployment and CI was a backlog from yesterday. This last day, but design was meant to be quite relaxed and generally like reflecting upon all the skills we’ve learned across the week. My main area of focus personally was how to consume an API using python. I knew it is easy but I didn’t know it was just that easy! On it, I tried Test Driven Development but it sucked me…like how could I test for the HTTP responses? How do I simulate and API call? I’m out looking for answers after this. Good thing is, thinking about the tests really helped me structure my code well. I started out late, however, so I had to finish late.

It’s over! Time is up. But is it really? I’m glad to have managed to tick of all of my today’s tasks before going to bed: it rarely happened. I’ve gotten done with the first week of the Andela SLC but,

“There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.”

…and I choose to stop here. TIA!
