Rick Scott is the 45th Governor of Florida. Gov. Scott was born in Bloomington, Illinois, and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. After high school Gov. Scott attended a community college but soon after enlisted in the United States Navy and was then able to attend college at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Following college education Gov. Scott received a law degree from Southern Methodist University.
After finishing school, Gov. Scott worked for Johnson & Swanson Law Firm in Dallas, representing various companies for oil, gas, health care and communications. While still practicing law, at the age of 34, Gov. Scott and wife, Ann, started the Columbia Hospital Corporation with their combined life savings of $125,000. This company then grew in to the largest health care company with over 340 hospitals in 37 states. Columbia Hospital Corporation employs over 285,000 people.

Scott was able to run and win a second term and has been Governor since 2011. Gov. Scott resigned as CEO of Columbia Hospital Corporation over controversy arising and questions about the Medicare billing practices. In the end the company admitted to 14 felonies and paid the government over $600 million dollars, this is the largest fraud settlement in the United States to date.
