Ducks taking over the golf course

In Virginia Beach, at a Topgolf course, a duck got tangled in the netting surrounding the course and had to be rescued. According to The News and Advance, a few workers from Nuckols Tree Care noticed and freed the duck. Soon after the duck was freed from the net it was taken to SPCA and will return to the wild once it is strong enough to survive in the wilderness.

Zika virus attacking Virginia

In Harrisonburg, a mother has been the first in Virginia to be diagnosed with the Zika virus. Heather Baker first learned she had the Zika virus on February 1st after receiving a letter from the Center for Disease and Control and Prevention. She most likely was bitten while on a mission trip to Guatemala this past November. According to WBDJ7, the Zika virus is transmitted by mosquitoes and causes birth defects in babies born from mothers infected with the Zika virus.

Turtle man goes to jail

In Newport News a man is sentenced to 30 days in jail for capturing hundreds of baby turtles and eggs from their wild nests and selling them. According to NBC12, it is illegal to sell or even purchase a turtle that is native or introduced to the state of Virginia. Corey Lee Taylor will not only spend 30 days in jail but also one year of probation for his trading and selling of baby turtles.
