Synopsis: Ever since the human mind awoke to its own existence, it has wondered about its cosmic significance. By dispelling myths and religious convictions, science entered the arena of explanatory templates. A tectonic shift in understanding began when the mind started decoding the universe‘s mathematical language. To this day, the technological prowess unleashed by scientific knowledge remains awe-inspiring. However, science excluded two crucial domains from its field of inquiry. Firstly, the formation of complex systems — especially metabolic structures — appears to defy the physics of cosmic disorder and decay. Then, the nature of consciousness itself was deemed unworthy of academic discourse until not too long ago. Furthermore, the adoption of physicalism as a metaphysical foundation for science was an enormously consequential choice, erroneously seen today as integral to science. This book chronicles an ongoing paradigm shift affecting physics and philosophy. Consciousness is rediscovered at the core of existence, expressing an intrinsic yearning for cosmic complexity, while the fabric of reality is woven from threads of information.

Over the course of 776 pages, The Sapient Cosmos embarks on an exploration of the inner and outer cosmos. Beginning with the philosophy of mind and the metaphysics of knowledge generation, the information-theoretic nature of the universe is uncovered. Central to the understanding of consciousness and reality are the phenomenal accounts of shamans, mystics, meditators, and psychonauts over the ages. The culmination of this journey is seen in the renaissance of metaphysical idealism. The Sapient Cosmos closes with the contours of a new synthesis of science and metaphysics. 159 pages introduce the concept of syncretic idealism:

Syncretic idealism is a philosophical proposition that combines
reoccurring aspects found in different formulations of idealism
with elements from other philosophical systems of thought and
insights from the evolving information-theoretic paradigm of
physics. The aim is a novel synthesis and integration of concepts
formerly only expressed in isolation. This emerging tapestry
woven from the threads of ideas proposed over time by many
deep thinkers offers a novel understanding of existence and the
nature of reality, specifically related to information, complexity,
consciousness, and meaning.

A window is opened through which the elements of a scientific spiritual outlook can be glimpsed. We are invited to become enchanted again by the mystery of our existence and the wonder of awakening in a cosmos, that is rich in symbolic meaning, purpose, and teleology. This recontextualization is accessible to anyone who is willing to journey outside the confines of a conscious mind that is perpetually conditioned by epistemic closed-mindedness and dogmatic belief. These states of heightened cognition are easily obtained by modulations of consciousness, be it via dreams, meditation, trance, chemicals, or even pain. Many experiences can function as interdimensional portals within our brains. This capacity could actually be an important part of what it means to be human in a transcendental multiverse of experience.

A blog post outlining the final chapter on syncretic idealism will be published before the launch.
