The idea for the book started with this tweet:

I want it to be an exercise in creativity. Me saying a lot with little and the artists creating a pressure-free page of art, inspired by those words. The end result being a printed, well-designed piece, artists can get some free copies of.

I don’t want this to be read as an exploitive venture. I only want this to be something fun that probably won’t make any money, but it would be nice to put out there in the world.

Types of work:

I’m open to all types of artwork. Color, black and white, inked, painted, digital, scanned traditional, multimedia pieces, it’s an opportunity to have fun, be creative and experiment with styles.

Final sizes:

The book’s final size is 4.75 inches by 5.8 inches at 300 dpi. Please add a .125 in bleed (4.875in by 5.925in) to the file to ensure it gets trimmed properly. I will letter all of the pages myself to keep things consistent.

Please make sure there is space in your art for story text as such:

What You’ll Get:

As of now, it’s a labor of love with no attempts to make any profit other than keeping the project sustainable. But I do want to make sure it’s worth everyone’s time. I will provide each contributor 2 or more copies of the final book. I will also use this as an opportunity to promote each creator within my various social media channels and highlight their contribution to the project as well as their other work.

Legal:

Contributors will be credited and will own all rights to their work, but give permission to Not So Super Publishing to print works as a book and use the art for promotional purposes.

First, check out the 30 three-sentence stories I wrote and choose the top FIVE stories you’d want to illustrate.

Reply to jacques@notsosuper.pub by November 30, 2019, with your choices. Also, give me an idea of what medium/style of illustration it will be.

The sooner you respond, the faster I can notify you of which story you’ll be illustrating. I will update the document to show which stories are still available.

The final piece of art should be received by February 29, 2020, to be included in the book. Again, the sooner, the better.

My goal is to have a quality book by March 31, 2020.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me.

Thanks for your interest! I look forward to working with you.

I can go on and on about comics, publishing, social justice, marketing, design and the joys of being the father of two phenomenal girls. So I will ;-D
