A Warbler’s Golden Serenade

--

The first call of the unfurling dawn –
fizzy mirth, chattering notes,
swells of soft silk canzones.

A yellow warbler -

she flies to the bloomy skyscape,
becomes the silver syllables
of an auburn sun song.

Its russet embers
kindle her soul’s quilled longings
to the whispering rouge
of a nuptial serenade.
