Venom (Title)

DON’T SLEEP ON VENOM! Don’t let what critics say about this movie stop you from watching it. Don’t let a rotten tomatoes score stop you from watching this movie. Once again, don’t sleep. This movie starts off slow to introduce the characters that we will be seeing throughout the movie. Once Eddie and the symbiote come together, the pace of the movie becomes faster and faster and the action begins to start. The problem that most Marvel movies (even when produced by Sony) is usually that the villain in the movies are one-noted and don’t really have a story other than being a “bad” guy. That would basically be the only problem I have for this movie, though Riz Ahmed does a GREAT job portraying a villain. I believe if this was any other actor, I would have absolutely hated the villain and I would have found the performance boring. Make sure to see Venom in the theaters and don’t miss out on a solid comic book movie.

Venom

The highlight of this movie is the relationship that Eddie and the symbiote have in this movie. The back and forth bickering that they have is both hilarious and entertaining. It didn’t like Tom Hardy is just talking to himself, even when he is, but he made the relationship believable like it’s two brothers constantly arguing with one another. Speaking of the CGI, it wasn’t actually that bad when you watch the movie for itself. I believe people are disliking Venom because of it’s CGI, but how else would you create a movie that has to be filled with heavy special effects. Michelle Williams played a great role as the love interest, Anne Weying. Anne has a pivotal role in how Eddie and the symbiote comes together. She also has a pretty awesome scene that I don’t plan on spoiling so make sure to see it for yourself. This movie has TWO post credit scenes, so make sure to stick around to see what it has in store.

Venom

As you can see in the photo, Venom does NOT have a spider symbol. That is because Venom is apart of the Sony universe that they are creating that will consist of Venom, Morbius (which plans on shooting in the next couple of months) and possibly a Kraven movie. It definitely feels weird having a Venom movie without Spiderman in it, but while watching, I don’t think Spiderman was really needed to be in this movie. Though after Spiderman: Far From Home, if Sony really wanted to, they can take back Spiderman from Marvel and use him for the universe that they are creating. We will just have to see what plans they have next and hope for a Venom sequel. Last couple of points that I want to make is that the theme song that Eminem created called “Venom” is INCREDIBLE. It’s one of my favorite theme songs for a movie other than “All The Stars” for Black Panther. Make sure to give “Venom” a listen, as well as Eminem’s new album, Kamikaze, it’s an amazing album. Overall, Venom is worth watching. It’s not the best comic book movie of the year, but it upholds the definition of a true comic book movie. It’s a movie that opens itself up to sequels and many more movies for the Sony Universe. Tom Hardy is made to be Venom and I hope he gets to play that role for many movies to come.
