Seriously, get professional help.

I am writing this piece because lately, I have had a few conversations with folks clinging on to the belief that there is no anthropogenic global warming.

They are opposing current scientific findings about anthropogenic global warming and follow the narrative that addressing the issue of CO2 emissions is run by evil spirited governments or other agents following a dark hidden agenda.

Reason and facts do not resonate well with these guys.

And it is very draining and frustrating to interact with them. So, instead, I put this together for them to read.

It is a short read, and it takes 2 minutes at max.

Anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming, particularly from the release of greenhouse gases like CO2, is a well-supported scientific consensus based on multiple lines of evidence.

Here’s a brief overview:

1. Direct Measurements of CO2

We’ve directly measured atmospheric CO2 levels increasing since the late 1950s (Mauna Loa Observatory). Current concentrations are higher than they’ve been for at least 800,000 years, based on ice core data.

2. Source Attribution

We know the additional CO2 is largely from human activities because the type (isotope) of carbon increasing in the atmosphere matches that of fossil fuels, and the amounts align with our emissions records.

3. Basic Physics:

The greenhouse effect, where certain gases like CO2 trap heat, is basic physics and has been understood since the 19th century.

4. Temperature Records

Global temperatures have risen in accordance with increased greenhouse gas concentrations. The last several decades have been the warmest on record.

5. Climate Models

Models that incorporate human-produced CO2 emissions closely match observed changes in climate. Those that don’t include our emissions don’t.

6. Other Factors

Natural factors like solar radiation and volcanic activity have been accounted for. They don’t explain the observed warming trends over the past several decades.

7. Scientific Consensus

Multiple scientific organizations around the world, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), among others, agree that current warming trends are very likely due to human activities.

While scientific understanding is always open to new data and revision, denying the significant human influence on current global warming is not in line with the overwhelming evidence and consensus in the scientific community. As with any complex topic, there are nuances and uncertainties, but the basic fact that human activities are a major driver of recent climate change is well-established.

If you are a climate change denier, please do not comment or share your delusional thoughts with me, but seek psychological help instead.
