Thanks for your article Susie. I was a Democrat who wasn’t raise particularly Christian, and now I am a Christian Republican. Clearly, opposite switch as you. And I don’t blame you one bit because the Republican party isn’t fully in line with the Christ’s values, but neither is the Democrat Party. On thing to consider thought is the Democrat’s party tendencies to Socialism, which is a very dangerous rode. Why? because it leads to the government having to much power (take Cuba for example). In replace of that, we need to freely have a more radical, heart-felt giving attitude in our communities. The Republican party has a major goal to decrease unemployment. (Don’t give a poor person a fish, teach them how to fish and give them a fishing job :) ). I struggled with this the issues of what appeared to be lack of charity as a democrat. I’ve been studying a lot of theology too and its truly the mission of the Church to be generous to the poor as a reflection of God’s love. Its a very complicated issue and there is some truth in the Democrat’s ideology. But there is a lot of truth in the Republican ideology too. God Bless!
