I Will Not Fear
Have you ever received a negative report and the immediate reaction is fear? Most of us have experienced this and Jesus wants to deliver and set us free from the grip of fear. He wants us to nail down our FAITH and CONFIDENCE in Him. In the story of Jesus and Jarius, Jesus teaches us how to combat fear.
Mark 5:35–36: While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?” Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; only believe.”
The first thing Jesus addressed when He spoke to Jairus was fear. This is one of the greatest weapons that the devil uses against people. Jesus essentially said to Jairus, “Don’t let fear cause you to believe the wrong report.” See, the report that his daughter was dead was a fact but it was not the final report. Jesus, the Truth, was speaking to Jairus, He told him to only believe. He was saying, “Don’t do anything else. Just believe that the report you have received is not the right report and what I plan to do will be the real deal.”
Jairus had to keep the same attitude of faith he had when he initially approached Jesus. He had to continue in faith that Jesus could still help his daughter. He was challenged to not let the negative circumstances change his belief. This is our challenge as well. The negative things that we see can cause us to believe that Jesus is not going to help us. The negative reports are designed to cause us to change our minds. Jesus wants us to keep having faith in Him. We can trust Him for the right outcome. We must be convinced that He will come through no matter what it looks like in the natural.
Jairus had to do only one thing in his situation, BELIEVE! The word ‘only’ means to solely, singly, merely, exclusively — just believe. He had to have one single focus — BELIEVE JESUS.
Some of you have received negative reports from the doctors, the jobs, your families, etc. and have had to choose whose report you will believe. Will you believe their report, though it appears to be accurate, or will you believe that Jesus, who is Truth, has a better report for your situation? His report is that you are healed, cured, delivered, blessed, and set free. He says He is for you; therefore, you have all you need to be made whole in the name of Jesus.
Jesus reassured Jairus, and He does the same for us. He tells us not to let worry and anxiety settle in our hearts, because we have the answer right in our midst. JESUS IS THE ANSWER!
