Look down and feel your body live

Dear journal,

Today I want to talk to you about fear.

You know, that feeling you get in your body, your hands start shaking, your mouth dries up, your belly starts to hurt… We’ve all been there.

Every year on the first day of school, I would get scared. Scared to be alone, scared to be late. Remember that?

I used to be scared to say what I think, or say something in class. We all know how humiliating it can be to say something wrong and have the whole class laughing. It’s hard to learn to laugh at yourself. It takes time and it takes courage, to admit that you said something that sounds silly to others, eventhough you were right to raise your hand. You were right to raise your hand, because admitting that you don’t know something means you will learn it. Whereas someone who thinks he knows everything will always be less educated. Asking questions makes you the smartest person in the room!

Most people are afraid of fear itself! They are afraid to be afraid! But how can you get out of a room, if you’re not in the room? https://youtu.be/EpCVgTAZ0bI

For instance, you might fear to be afraid if you go climbing.

Are you afraid to fall, afraid of heights? If you learn to outcome your fear, the fun and pride you’ll have once you reach the top will outcome the fear!

Once you feel fear, you can use it to YOUR advantage! Your body will be full of energy and you will climb twice as fast as your friends! So say thank you to your fears because they will take you so far in life if you learn to turn them into something good!

I read once that you should make one clever request every day. By clever I mean requesting something that won’t bring you anything bad if the answer you get is No. It can be asking someone to publish your story. Or asking for free tickets to an event. What can ever happend if they say no ? NOTHING!

What are you afraid of today? Ask yourself what you’re too afraid to do and do it!

Next time you feel fear coming at you, close your eyes and feel it. Feel your body live, move, react.

I hope I don’t need to add that you should never do something that could hurt you, like climbing without security or something dangerous as such…
