Officers are even indemnified for punitive damages in many instances. Officers are indemnified even when they are criminally prosecuted for their misdeeds. I actually think that we need indemnification — to spread risk and ensure that plaintiffs are compensated — but that individual officers should be made to pay some money as a sanction in certain cases.
