Weeknotes #004
Weeknotes #004
Summary
- Ways to plan my time more effectively
- Ways to bring the team together to work in new, exciting ways
- Started to tackle my background reading for project prep
Monday
My week started with a great conversation with Cate, about how I make the best use of my time. She has really useful tips to pause and process what I need to do next and why.
Tip 1. Using Trello cards. Start each week outlining my focus for the week. Start each day with my focus for the day
Tip 2. . Riccardo just mentioned another thing to try, https://www.themuse.com/advice/a-better-todo-list-the-135-rule, which I’ll keep in mind if my focusses for the day/week get a bit fuzzy.
Tuesday
I started reading through some of the design documents for the proposed Hackney Agile Lifecycle (HAL) project. HAL doesn’t yet seem to hold a place in everyone’s heart as an essential resource to be dipped into and referenced as part of project work. Does everyone know what it is, what does it mean to them, and why would they use it? I’m making some space in the diary to start working these things out — and I will uncover what HAL is and what it can become.
I also wrote the first draft of the design brief for the Digital Design Hack Week. A chance for the newly formed team to work together to deliver a digital project that people, in Hackney Council, will prefer to use. The brief and schedule follow a similar structure to a Google Design Sprint https://designsprintkit.withgoogle.com/. More info to follow as planning progresses and the work starts.
Wednesday
The digital design team met to begin to outline some of the problems we encounter — as a new team bringing new ways of working into the department. A great session lead by Rahma, leading to interesting problems for me and the team leads to consider.
Thank you everyone who’s been following my weeknotes. I’ve been surprised to hear, when introducing myself to people, that you’ve been reading them and have an idea of who I am and what I am up to. I’m looking forward to meeting more of you.
