Eyes Like Shattered Glass

Your eyes like shattered glass
Split my mind in two.
Sense comes last
Although I have nothing to lose.

Your eyes like shattered glass
Freeze me in the moment.
But time proves too much
And you become my opponent.

Your eyes like a rushing river
Drown me with presence,
They fill my lungs with water.
I fight but lose my balance.

Your eyes like the moon
Shine with gentleness.
Not looking for glory
But content with subtleness.

Your eyes like blue flame
Warn me of danger
I run and run
But I can never find favor

Your eyes, like winter’s glow,
Shine through the darkness,
Melt the powdered snow,
And tame the arctic.

Your eyes like shattered glass
Fill me with lightning
And teach me to see past
The sadness and the frightening.

Your eyes like shattered glass
Lacerate my skin.
And as The blood drains,
I’m left longing
