Next Gen of chat GPT is revolutionizing the game, Got new updates on my projects and the importance in socializing post-grad

Projects

This is the first week in a while that I have not really done much of my productive work. I was exploring the Spotify API using their example that is found on their site. In the future, I would like to have a site that dynamically changes for a particular playlist that would make an entire site that would contain similar things that I have put for my static implementation of from my Web development course that I took my freshman year of college during my time attending Covid University.

I also started another React Native project. The last time I wrote in RN, I was doing it for the startup. Now I am able to enter this development process with my new found knowledge of React and am able to write code that I am proud of. The one issue is that I am still thinking of the direction of what I would like to write. I am thinking of something that I would use for work. This would be a searchable allergen page, as well as something to help with task delegation for end of the day as well as a notes app that I can keep track of notes that then formats it for a slack message. This is still early but it should be good

Near the end of the week, I was focusing more on my personal website again after a decent amount of time away, I decided to return to the issues that I was struggling with which led me to take a break. This struggle was found on the landing page of the site. I am trying to develop a solution to dynamically show the projects that I have developed over my time of programming. I am struggling between making it a Y-scroll or making it blocks one on top of the other so you have to scroll through them all to proceed. I may split the projects up as I want to show them all off but I also want to have them separated out by technology or stack to show that I have lots of versatility. I could also represent them in order of when I completed them. This will help show some context of when each of these projects were started. I could separate them by year at college then the other projects that I have done post grad will be its own section. This makes 5 sections and hopefully it shows that I have developed skills over time. I would like to have this include a project and an embedded element that contains that GitHub repo information. These projects will be contained in a card that should look interesting

News

Chat GPT is going off at the moment. The newest update added many new features that include giving it the ability to speak and analyze pictures. With the second half, people have been able to write up simple wire frames and it was able to write up the code. This is huge for helping bridge the gap between the web designers and the software developers. Rather than getting an insane design that would take a very long time, the designers are able to send the developers what the boiler plate code would look like then the developers would be able to go in and fill in the gaps.

I see huge implications for something like this. The one thing that I would like is that this feature be free rather than just the standard text version. I understand that the paywall helps fund it but it is rather annoying that they add all of these new features but they are not available to people who do not want to pay. Overall it is a cool update and am interested to see where it goes next.

Personal

This week, I did a lot of thinking, as I have been for the better part of the summer and continuing into the fall, I have been starting to focus more or less on my work and have placed my social life on the back burner. By doing this, I felt that my mental health was taking a serious toll. Don’t get me wrong I like talking to my co-workers and family but the socialization I once had while at school with the people my age is vital and in my current situation pursuing these connections is something that I have trouble continuing while I am at home, working while also trying to focus on my future.

With this in mind, I was able to connect with my friends from High school through our normal mode of communication which is through discord. I have not really talked with them for the entire summer almost. This did not matter one bit as I joined and was hanging out and joking like I always have. It was one of the first times in a while that I felt that I was able to have a genuine good time and joke and be my age.

“Growing up“ is something that I have always looked at as a gradual process. With the time that I have now, I am trying to enjoy this time as I have my friends who are usually all online almost every day now.

With talking with them, all of the troubles and concerns that I have about my job search, personal problems and anything else in my life that is causing me to be unhappy goes away for the brief time that I hang out with them. It also helps me relax in a way that I really struggle to when I am on my own.
