7 Free Phone Apps Every Marketer Should Download Right Now

Are you the type of person who’s always attached to your phone? If you’re a marketer, that’s a good thing. Your phone isn’t just a great way to stay connected with the world, it can contain some incredibly powerful marketing tools to help you stay informed, engage with social media followers, and collaborate with your team.

As a marketer, I have a whole suite of phone apps that help me do my job better on a daily basis. Here are some of my favorites.

1) Evernote

How many times have you told yourself you’ll remember an amazing idea, only to have it slip your mind? Or maybe you jotted it down on a napkin, only to lose it somewhere between your lunch meeting and the office. Evernote is a fantastic way to capture notes and ideas while you’re on the go. Make lists, leave yourself voice memos, and take snapshots. Every note is completely searchable on your phone or laptop, so you never lose a thing.

2) Dropbox

You probably already use Dropbox to share files, but installing the Dropbox app on your phone lets you collaborate with your team while on the go. You can preview and edit files right from the app, and it can also be set up to sync the information of compatible apps — making it a powerful tool to have around.

3) Trello

Trello is another fantastic collaboration tool vital for teams. You can create “boards” where you can brainstorm marketing campaigns and content, assign team members, create to do lists, and track progress. It’s both a web app and a phone app, which make collaboration seamless whether you’re in the office or on the road.

4) Hootsuite

Stay on top of all your social media with Hootsuite’s mobile apps. Schedule and edit posts to multiple networks at once, easily engage with your followers, and even track engagement — all from your phone.

Bonus: For iPhone users out there, Hootsuite just released their Suggestions app that suggests content for you to share with your network.

5) Flipboard

Staying on top of your industry — and sharing that knowledge with other — is crucial for marketers. That’s why Flipboard is such a great app. Become an influencer by collecting content from around the web into your own themed magazines. As a reader, you can follow industry leaders to stay up to date on current news, trends, and technologies.

6) Buffer

Overwhelmed by trying to keep your social media followers engaged? Enter Buffer. Buffer is a powerful content curation app which lets you queue up interesting articles, photos, and messages, then spaces out your posts at optimal points throughout the day. It works both as a web app and phone app, making it simple to keep your social media profiles packed with good content. (Buffer works with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, G+, and Pinterest.)

7) Pocket

How many interesting articles have you meant to come back to, only to not be able to find them when you have time to read? Put them in your Pocket, and you’ll never lose track of them again.

Pocket lets you save any article or video into its app so you can access it later. It’s a web app, too, so you can clip articles throughout the day while you’re at work, in order to read them on your phone later.

What are your favorite apps? I’m always looking for new ones to add to my list, so let me know which ones you as a marketer couldn’t live without!
