Thank you for bringing up the important distinction between social connections that are shallow (and often mitigated by technology) from those that are richly meaningful and help us feel more interwoven with our fellow people.

Our civilization in many ways is less connected than ever due to rampant individualism as an overarching “meta frame” for organizing social life. Yet we have the tools to be more connected than ever if the relationships and experiences have meaningful engagement.
