2019 Announcements with Gratitude

These past months have seen significant changes in my professional development and I am writing this to share a number of transitions, changes and exciting developments. All with gratitude for those who are providing critical support — change is never easy!
After five years with the small but mighty nonprofit InSTEDD I have stepped out of my position as the Director of Communications. In my tenure I have traveled the world and worked on public health and humanitarian projects with amazing folks. Highlights included working with the awesome teams in Sunnyvale and Phnom Penh Cambodia, as well as running events in Uganda, Vietnam, Brazil and Myanmar.

While I am sad to leave, the organization is in able hands.
In my most immediate efforts post-InSTEDD I have pivoted to domestic United States focused work, running an initiative to help in the opioid crisis response. I have established my own business, HelpfulTech, in order to provide technical advising to organizations on the frontline of the public health crisis. I’m really appreciating the support from family and former colleagues in this endeavor.
Let’s Break Good has been this years passion project in 2019 and I am proud to announce season two has launched . We completed our first run of twelve episodes from this past February to July, and season two episodes have already started and will go through February 2020. I’m posting below my favorite episode from season one and you can listen and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher (and most places you get your podcasts)
Yes there is more great news to share. I was accepted into the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leaders program. It is a competitive program that selects 40 US public health leaders each year to complete a three year professional development program together. I will be part of the fourth cohort. The first convening was recently in Albuquerque, New Mexico and I’m in awe of what positive things that are happening around the country
To conclude this little personal update, I am expressing once again my gratitude to all the colleagues, peers and friends around the world who have kept me sustained through the years working in tough challenges. I wish you all a wonderful start to the holiday season.
