Happy New Year

News Year’s Day 2016 I woke up to the sound of hoovering. We had in-laws down for New Year’s Eve and they have taken it on themselves to clean up. It’s going to be a long morning/day/year. Mind you by the time I got downstairs the cleaning had all been done and there was breakfast being laid out on the table so I really have nothing to complain about, but I have a reputation as a grumpy old sod to maintain.

It will be a long year though. We are going to go back to London, to live, in the summer. Which means we have to find jobs, somewhere to live, jobs, a school for Deniz, and jobs. I haven’t done any real work for eight years. I have the feeling that finding a job isn’t going to be easy. Especially as during those eight years I have managed what many of my friends believed to be impossible and grown even lazier than I was.
After breakfast I walked the dogs down to the beach. It was a cold but sunny morning with a bright, sharp wind that blew last night’s beers away. I am going to miss the dogs and the beach. We can’t take the dogs with us to London. It wouldn’t be fair on them, they have grown up with all this space and freedom. And taking the beach with us would just cause huge paperwork issues.
