Yesterday, long-time Pine Ridge Reservation pediatrician Stanley Patrick Weber was charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault of minors.

The charges come after years of allegations by community members and fellow Indian Health Services (IHS) staffers that Weber was sexually abusing patients. In 2009 Weber suspended and investigated by IHS after allegations arose, but he was promptly reinstated and promoted to a high-level adminstrative role where, IHS staffers say, he was able to threaten and retaliate against those who accused him.

Below are copies of the charges and of the warrant for his arrest. The charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred as far back as nearly twenty years ago. Of the 10 counts, 4 of them occurred after Weber was investigated by IHS and promoted.

Any victims or those with any information about abusive behavior occurring at IHS or anywhere else are encouraged to contact the author at (508)333–5763, on Facebook, or at joe.flood@gmail.com. All sources will remain confidential.

WARNING: the documents contain vivid characterizations of the alleged sexual abuse.
