Don’t Major in Minor Things
The only people we should try to “get even” with are those who have helped us. A primary goal each day should be to keep our thoughts peaceful. Calm, peaceful thoughts lead to a calm, peaceful life. Complaining about any aspect of life will not keep our life peaceful. Angrily justifying our actions will not keep our life peaceful. Blaming people will not keep our life peaceful. Becoming mired in feelings of shame over past deeds will not keep our life peaceful. We may have some ruts to escape from if we sincerely wish for a happier, more peaceful life. We may have to make a strong intention each morning to break some old, unconscious habits. We can’t transform if we continue to conform.
Don’t major in minor things like petty jealousies and focusing on how life isn’t “fair.” You’re giving up childish habits, remember? Guard your time. It’s valuable. Learn to say no politely and quickly. You do not owe anyone an explanation. We are not here to please other people. Guard your energy. If you have people in your life who continually drain your energy, it may be time to tighten your circle. It is very challenging to maintain a peaceful, positive life while we are surrounded by negative, toxic people who drag us down emotionally.
Implement some new ideas, new habits. You can absolutely get to where you want to be from where you are. And please don’t compare your current predicament with anyone else’s. Watch any track meet or horse race and notice how positions change frequently and quickly. Successful people are too busy making positive changes to notice what anyone else is doing. Trust yourself and start making positive changes today.
