Forgiving Others For Our Sake
Forgiveness is a difficult task. Why should someone who has hurt us so much be forgiven? Who can blame us for being resentful for the hurt that was inflicted upon us? How about the times when we forgave someone only to be hurt again and again? The answer to these questions always boils down to this: are we really “getting even” with anyone by continuing to hold hostile feelings towards them? Hostile feelings hurt us at the cellular level. Hostile feelings make us ill. Haven’t we been hurt enough already? Why should this person steal our health and happiness even now? Is there was a way to make certain that this person never hurts us again?
Try this: forgive, forget and move on. This is the only way to guarantee that the damage done by this person is in the past. We become clear of this person in the present. We become clear of this person in the future. All we need to do is summon up the courage and determination to take this challenging step: forgiving and forgetting. We are freed of any lingering connection to negative, hurtful people. We become lighter and healthier simply by letting go.
Isn’t it great that this person will never again be part of your life?
