“ Just set your inhibitions free, And we’ll be kings amongst all men.” — Tim Hampshire

8. Tim Hampshire — The Fast Times Will Be My Fuel — Anchorhead
I’ve often thought that Tim thinks that breaking the record for the most lyrics on an album will get him a lifetime supply of Guinness… Don’t get me wrong, I sure as fuck hope he gets it. But, its no problem for me if I have to keep buying my own drinks if we have this record to listen to while we drink them ( I wrote that while listening to the album while drinking a pint of Guinness at the Public bar) Tim writes songs about what he cares about most. Politics, Unions, family and Friends.
“The Fast Times Will Be My Fuel” is full of great Folk Punk songs that will make you want to get more involved in your local government or some shit. Remember when you first heard Propagandhi and you were all; “ Man this rocks! its fast, its loud, its fucking angry but I have no idea what they are talking about but I dig it!” That’s kind of what I feel like when I hear Tim’s songs mainly because, Tim is much smarter than me…But, that’s what is cool about this record. It makes you think.

I’m always looking for some kind of connection with music. I still remember when I first heard the Beatles, I still remember when I first heard Sepultura, I still remember when I first heard Mmmbop. The raw emotion that I get when I hear it whether it’s sadness, joy or straight up floor stomping anger and just for fun, I’ll leave it up to you to figure out which emotion goes with which of those examples but that is what I like about Tim’s music. Its honest and it makes you think. I’m a huge fan of Tim and his music and generally think he should be a lot more famous than he is. He’s playing Fest this year and hopefully has a new EP coming out before the end of the year so take the time to listen. You won’t be disappointed.
