Plateau State Youth Activist Becomes Global Youth Ambassador For The Second Term
“Born and raised in multicultural Plateau state, as the son of parents from Plateau. Uniting Nigeria in its diversity and connecting to our brothers and sisters beyond its constructed borders is the quintessence of my very existence. Overcoming prejudices and breaking down barriers through exchange and cooperation build the core of my social activism. Only together we can effectively combat global warming, violent conflicts and exploitation. I am showing leadership by taking full advantage of my privileges to empower others to take action. My education based on critical thinking, global life experiences and love substantiate my drive to ignite the change. On the principles of equality, solidarity and fairness. Ponfa Miri is an open minded and broad thinking personality with innovative approaches to new and existing challenges. He is interested in promoting youth skills and helping to inspire future leaders. He believes that a good quality education is the best solution to provide a stable future.
Ponfa Miri has been actively involved in Youth activities at both national and international level championing Youth empowerments through leadership and capacity building.
In recognition of his work as Global Youth Ambassador, Ponfa Miri was appointed as the state Coordinator/President of “Model United Nations Development Organisation”. He worked on a project tagged “Plateau Youth for Global Goals”, a campaign to sensitise young people on SDGs, which brought together leaders from private and public sectors with over 300 people in attendance, he had the opportunity of sharing the works of a GYA. He worked as the “Lead community engagement” at nHUB Foundations, Nigeria. A Non-profit tech organisation which helps young people acquire tech skills in AI, VR, Coding etc. to build a self reliance community, inline with SDG 4, 8 and 9.
Ponfa Miri was also awarded as the Global Humanitarian Leader for “Young World Leaders for Humanity” 2018, an indian based organisation. He was appointed as a youth ambassador with “Change makers Leadership and mentoring Project”, where he was involved in targeting more than 100,000 students for civic education aimed at creating collaboration between teachers and pupils to foster change in Nigeria. He is the present Chief Operating Officer Alewa House, a creative hub situated in the city of Jos, Nigeria. The hub harnesses, supports and nurtures creative talents within the city, then export the art to the world.
Ponfa Miri is the founder of Future Hive, an initiative aimed at fostering inclusive and resilient communities.. It’s a civic innovation lab, social innovation incubator where they offer social innovators, startups and their ambassadors a unique ecosystem of resources, inspiration, and opportunities for collaboration to grow social impact.
His activism comes in many forms from being a speaker and facilitator for several youth events, to motivating and building the next generation of leaders and encouraging young students and graduates to embrace a culture of volunteerism.
