Lamenting in free verse.

There are no monsters under her bed.

But the men she loved are morally shapeshifting demons here to steal her passion by exacting totalitarian actions such as (and not limited to) removing her sexuality to procure their safe passage to a land that is infinitely 'masculine' (and yet, perplexingly filled with women).

They strip her of everything that is uniquely hers --now a teenage right of passage is afflicted with whispered questions on infections, and not sexual progression. What’s worse? She is ashamed to think of these things. She is ashamed to think of wanting to not think of these things. She is ashamed to think. Her shame having been forcefully injected, she has been conditioned by men to live

in. her. head.

the way she lives out of it--

conditionally.

They tell her she can't take pleasure in life because it's not God's will. She can't take pleasure in life because pleasure is reserved for those who are regarded as equal, or rather people who are People and not the secondary, second class "people" who woke up out of the womb never being told directly that their second x chromosome was a death sentence to their freewill.
