Daily, the farm deals with various waste items, including biodegradable (crop residues, weeds, animal wastes) that decompose over time, and non-biodegradable (plastics, metals) that do not decompose and can hamper the penetration of plant roots when turned in the soil.
Agricultural waste materials can pose environmental and health problems if they are not properly managed. For example, burning of crop residues can cause air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, agricultural waste materials represent a loss of valuable resources that could be used for other purposes.

Therefore, it is important to find simple ways to turn agricultural waste into valuable resources that can benefit the farmers, the consumers, and the environment. Some of the possible ways are:
1. Waste Categorization:
This is the process of sorting waste in the farm into different containers. The Biodegradable and Non-Biodegradable waste should be put into different waste containers.
2. Feed formulation: Feed formulation is making a balanced animal diet from different feed ingredients. It can help utilize agricultural waste such as crop residues, food processing waste, and animal by-products. For example, groundnut shells and maize cobs can be used as sources of fiber and energy in animal feed.
3. Livestock waste as manure: Livestock waste such as cattle dung and poultry litter can be used as natural fertilizer, delivering essential nutrients to crops.
4. Composting: It transforms organic matter into a nutrient rich fertilizer through aerobic decomposition, utilizing biodegradable agricultural waste like plant materials and animal manure. The resulting compost serves as an organic fertilizer, enhancing soil fertility.
5. Recycling: Recycling can help utilize agricultural waste products that are non-biodegradable, such as plastics, metals etc. These waste products can be recycled into new products, such as packaging materials, planting materials etc.
