I agree that many Computer programmers are doing things that, at this point, would *ideally* require PE-level regulation, licensing and educational requirements. I hope we can put these things in place. But until then, calling programmers “engineers” is still a misnomer. For now they are more like the electricians of the 1920s who, ultimately, could string wire wherever and however it suited them, with no public oversight.
