Drake & My Perception of Him

Aubrey “Drake” Grahams is one of the most prominent figures in today’s Pop culture. He has been dominating Pop music for quite some time now, with the release of his mixtape So Far Gone back in February 13, 2009. Since then, he’s grown an ambivalent fan base, which is common nowadays because everyone has different taste in music.

Drake has this prodigious versatility in music and that is an amazing feat. From singing and rapping in Romeo Santos’ “Odio”, to rapping with Jay-Z in “Pound Cake”, he is an unstoppable force when it comes to creating music. But I don’t understand what’s not to like about him. He creates music for literally every type of person in society. Whether you’re heartbroken (Doing It Wrong), happy (Hold On, We’re Going Home), cocky (Worst Behavior), or intimidating (Back to Back), there’s a wide array of tracks that he has created, to satisfy every single one of you. So to say he’s an “alright” artist is a bit of an understatement.

His most notable collaboration, and many people can agree on this, is with Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, a.k.a The Weeknd. Whenever they make a track together, it’s like hearing Mr. Softee’s ice cream truck tune. Whenever you hear that, you know something amazing is approaching. There’s not one bad song from Drake and The Weeknd. “Crew Love” was the first time I heard The Weeknd sing, and that’s when I first had an eargasm. The method in which he sings and creates a flow in that song is remarkable, along with Drake’s singing and rapping, it’s a masterpiece.

Drake has already proved many things to us. What he can do, how he can do it, and what he has to do to satisfy us. Many people say he’s a “p***y”, but they don’t elaborate on that. They only say “It’s because he sings.” While these people insult him, he’s out there making millions…. literally. Let him continue making spectacular music because sooner or later, he WILL make a track for you haters that’ll turn you into a die-hard fan.
