Attitude of Gratitude

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High.” Psalms‬ ‭92:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I have been spending a lot of time lately thinking and acting on gratitude.

My wife and I have been taking time each evening at dinner to declare at least five things we are grateful for that day.

This can be everything from the wonderful relationship we share as a married couple to simple things like a great meal. There is nothing out of range when it comes to gratitude!

Gratitude is the twin of generosity.

One is internal while the other is external. I believe that generosity actually begins with gratitude. Someone who begrudges their personal situation will never want to contribute into another’s.

The thing about gratitude is that it is really not that easy. It takes discipline and effort!

It sounds simple…but it’s not! I find myself not wanting to be grateful hardly any day of the week. Complaining is the natural default mode of the human nature. It is our fallen side that wants to take over and be negative. We must empower the new creation within in order to operate in true gratitude.

Takeaway: Are you living a life of intentional gratitude? Do you find yourself complaining more than being grateful? Have you established the Lord Jesus as the source of all thankfulness in your life?

Look to his sacrifice on the Cross today in order to kickstart your attitude of gratitude.
