Call to Rescue
“Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.” Jude 1:23 NLT
There is a great debate raging within the body of Christ concerning how to handle people who are sinners or “lost”.
One camp claims we should go out into the world and pretty much become like them in order to reach them. Another extreme claims that we should be totally separate and walk in complete holiness in order to show them the light.
Are either one of these right? Are both wrong? The word of God gives us some very simple but clear direction on this subject.
There are two distinct groups within the large mass of people who do not call on the name of Jesus.
There are those we are called to rescue. There are those who will refuse our rescue but we must still show mercy.
Sadly, not everyone will except the life-giving message of Jesus Christ. This does not give us cause to distain or despise, but rather, to show mercy and continue to pray that they may become one of the few who are rescued from the flames of judgment.
Takeaway: As you go about your day today think of every person you meet as someone who potentially needs to be rescued.
If they reject or resist the rescue of God’s love, show mercy and love to them in hopes they may one day surrender to the rescue of God’s amazing love.
