Election Aftermath

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” Psalms‬ ‭118:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Every four years it seems that everyone gets their focus on choosing a leader for our nation. While I am a firm believer that we should vote and be a part of the political system, we can never get our eyes on a leader to the point that we lose sight of our trust in God.

It has been two weeks since the election, and many people are still focused on the results as if it just happened. They are fearful and inciting violence. They are concerned and worrisome.

Why are people so fixated on our latest elected official? I will tell you why. It is because they do not trust the Lord!

I will tell you right now that no matter what the outcome of November 8 might have been, I would have remained focused on serving the Lord with all my heart and trusting him. Daniel was living in wicked times and yet every day he would pray to the Lord three times a day. He did not get caught up in looking to a king for the salvation of his people. In the same way, we should not think that any person who is elected to office holds our destiny in their hands.

Takeaway: Do you trust in God today or have you put your hope in man? Have you fallen prey to the same lies as those who are without hope in God?

I encourage you to realign your faith in God and trust him completely. A political party is not the answer to the real problems we face as a nation or individually. Trust God!
