How to Take Your Prayer Life to the Next Level
“He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.” Psalms 18:17 ESV
Everyone wants to pray. Everyone wants to have a better prayer life. It is not a matter of wanting to as much as knowing how to.
The Psalms are a book of prayer. They are filled with thanksgiving and petition. They are filled with delight and despair. They give us a tremendous insight as to how the Lord would like to be talked to.
One of the themes throughout Psalms that really blesses me is that of rescue. Over and over again the different writers speak of the amazing power of our God to rescue from situations too great to handle in their own power.
Praying through the Psalms is a great way to realign your focus and remember the rescue of our God.
One of the things I’ve been doing lately is reading the Psalms out loud. I do so in an attitude of prayer and I aim my words towards heaven. I have found tremendous encouragement and relief from my distress as I read aloud the words of David. There is something powerful about hearing yourself declare God’s word over your life!
Takeaway: have you ever read the Psalms out loud? Are you looking to take your prayer life to the next level? Use the Psalms as a pattern for prayer. Use them to connect with heaven in a new way. Use them to train your mouth and mind to follow the righteous paths that have been given to us in this treasure trove of God’s Word.
