“”If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” ‭‭John‬ ‭14:15‬ ‭ESV

The theme of this week has been obedience. Today the reading highlighted so many aspects of obedience. We know that God is pleased with faith. Faith is practically demonstrated in obedience. Obedience is proof of our love for Jesus. Many people today are talking about love. They have made love a mystical idea that feels warm and fuzzy.‬‬

Jesus makes it very plain in this verse that love is extremely practical.

Everything in our walk with God is a response to his initiation of love at Calvary. You cannot respond to the work of salvation without repentance. You cannot respond to the new birth without obedience. What child can truly say they love their parent but yet does not obey what they ask or command them to do?

To be a follower of Jesus is far more then checking a status box. It is actively seeking out his commands and following them with all of your heart.

Takeaway: Have you made your love for Jesus practical in obedience? Do you take the word of God as the highest standard of direction in your life? Have you made the love of God something mystical are intangible? Let the rubber hit the road today in obedience and truly show your love for Jesus!
