“And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭20:15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The book of life is mentioned 7 times in the book of Revelation and 7 times in the rest of the Bible. 14 is the number of confirmed perfection. There can be no denying the existence of this mysterious book.

When we speak of the book of life, images of magic and mystery come to mind. This book has been intentionally hidden from believers and is out of sight completely to the unbeliever. Our adversary knows that its simple but powerful meaning would rock any sane person to the core.

This is not a concert ticket to the best concert of all time. This is not a night club where you may know someone who can get you in.

There is no back door to heaven!

Each person who is qualified for eternal life by faith alone in the finished work of Christ will have their name written in this book.

There will be no mistakes. There will be no appeal!

The very fact that many will fail to have their name written in this book of books should put the fear of God in all of us. To flirt with sin is to gamble with the greatest danger imaginable.

Eternity is forever. The Cross is the gate. The book of life is the record!

Takeaway: Is your name in the book of life? Are you sure? Have you thought about the consequences of your name not being found in that book? Do you really believe that it exists or is it somewhat like a Disney movie in your imagination? We must trust the Word of God and take it at face value. 14 times we are told about this book. 7 times in Revelation alone.

This is real. This is serious. This is eternal!
